Spotted: Peplum trend being embraced by a lot many Indian Desingers in their Spring Summer 2013 collection, at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW). Below are a few of the gorgeous peices all clad in light summer shades of white, big bold florals and peplum variations.

The Wills India Fashion Week SS'13 rounded up with some fabulous work from a lot of my favorite designers and a great presentation from a lot many new names I have come to remember as seasons pass...

I am in love with the new coral/salmon mix shade that is emerging in a lot of designer collections. It's a great color for the Indian skin tone and does feel perfect for the hot and humid summers you get there. It is also a great shade when done in either a pastel version or a neon variation, saw a lot of it.
Other colors that will do well, as depicted in the SS'13 showcase are earthy tones along with royal jewel tones of blue and red.
Saw a lot of white, as is expected from a summer showcase, but a lot of black too, and I can see that in a lighter, more airy fabric, where it can breathe, that color looks great for summers, when used in combination with bright hues, even if only while accessorising.Below are some of my favorite picks...

‘For the women in love with silky bohemia, Tanvi Kedia's 'Anthology' carried on the idea of silky and endlessly wearable numbers, adding measured and refined dose of 'chic'. The introduction of intricate digital prints along with multi hued embroidery and other embellishments provided a more explicit look to her colourful complication.’- willslifestyle via facebook.com
I am so glad Tanvi Kedia decided to add the digital prints and the flowy dresses. She is one of my favorite designers and I would love to see more of her work. Just feel like the embroidered and structured dresses were a bit too similar to the A/W2011 collection that she showcased last time.

My special interest and love for all things Divyam goes back to the fact that we did college together. He has maintained his brand image since way before he was launched in IFW. His love for the rural crafts, fabrics and the old worldly charm of his clothes was visible in college assignments as well. I love his use of brights this time along with some beautiful blues and navys. Loved his use of khadi with such relaxed silhouettes, there was a sense of calm and lightness in his show.

One of my all time favorite desiger, from India, is goa based Wendell Rodricks. His SS2012 show was a spectacular presentation, much like a fun filled beach party. With a beautiful set complimenting the sun, sand and surf, along with some live music and lovely flowy dresses, it was a blast. The collection had soothing pastel shades, seen both in men's and women's wear. The silhouettes were relaxed ( a rodricks trademark ) and the garments were for all body shapes and sizes. My personal favorite were the pastel shorts and capris for men, the subtle hint of embelishment here and there and the flowy maxi dresses. A must have for any summer beach trip!

Straight from the heart of colorful India comes the Wills India Fashion Week, celebrating SS2012. To begin with I start with a designer, I wasn't so familiar with until recently, Charu Parashar. Infact, I only got to know of her through the Wills official page on facebook, while going through the designers.
Charu Parashar has successfully captured the global liking for print and pattern in her electric mix of colors. But somehow to me it all just seemed a bit of a copycat act. Although, I quite like her collection, with the rainbow symbolizing the covenant between god and every living creature, it reminds me of Christopher Kane’s Resort 2012. Many pieces looked more taken from than inspired by Kane, and not always in a positive way.
That said, I loved the flow and the flirtatious feel of the collection. The flowy chiffons, georgettes, tulle and satin on a bright and playful palette and thigh high slits were silhouettes I would definitely want in my summer wardrobe.

Loving the work of Sailex, a dear friend of mine. His collection always screams red carpet glamour with a spoonful of rebel mixed into it....
Always makes me smile. His silhouettes work as an extension to the body....the flow, the movement of the fabrics and the textures are some features to look out for in his work. The colors are always like a beautiful bouquet of flowers..

INDIAN fashion Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Sabyasachi Mukherjee was born in Kolkata, India. After +2 from St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, he graduated from NIFT Kolkata with three major awards in 1999. After graduation, He launched his own label by the same name and currently has retails at New Delhi -Carma & Ogaan, ; Mumbai -Melange & Ensemble ; Kolkata-Espee & Intrigue, and Hyderabad- Origins and Oorja.
Following graduation, after three months he launched his eponymous label, and his designs currently retail in various major stores.
In 2001, Sabyasachi won the Femina British Council most outstanding young Designer of India award, which took him to London for an internship with Georgina Von Etzdorf, a designer based in Salisbury. He made his international label by winning the grand winner award at Mercedes New Asia fashion week in Singapore in 2003.
In 2004, he took part in the Kuala Lampur fashion week, and Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW).
He earned the distinction of being the only Indian designer invited to showcase at the Milan Fashion Week 2004 and was voted by Asia Inc, a Singapore based business magazine, as one of the ten most influential Indians in Asia.
In 2005, he designed the costumes for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film, Black, Baabul (2006), and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007). He also designed costumes for the cast of Paa (2010), Raavan (2010) and Guzaarish (2010).
Sabyasachi's designs have always been a mix of the great Indian traditional crafts along with a modern taste to them. His silhouettes are contemporary with fabulous mix of textures and embellishments. He never fails to surprise his audience. His fashion shows are always unique with a sense of vintage in them, the story telling is a masterpiece, and gripping. In total, he is one major designer to watch out for in the coming years...!

Sabyasachi - the 'King of Kitsch' enthralled the audiences with a splendid tribute to contemporary & classic fashion... The ramp came alive with the vibrant collection as the popular jazz band Ronnie Montrose and performer Kiya from London opened with a stellar performance...
Set against a backdrop of life size iconic fashion bibles, the all black wooden ramp was bedecked with flamboyant colourful bulbs!
The collection was stunning and the show, yet again, was a treat for the senses!
