Spring Summer 2012 trends: As seen on the RUNWAY!!!

L.A.M.B.

Although Gwen Stefani was in L.A., her show was packed up with the L.A.M.B. styling and Gwen’s personality to the T. The three central themes running in the collection were: Rat Pack, high voltage, and maharaja.
The characters that typically stood out for me were, the distress washed, slouchy jumpsuit, the ikat caftan, the biker inspired jackets and not to forget the over the top oversized bags and hypnotic prints.
The black and white ikat print was a stunner in every outfit, as were the checks and patterns in shades of grey. The rainbow stripes were fun and very Gwen Stefani. All in all, a collection that truly was a mirror image of her “dream closet”- as quoted by her over the e-mail, L.A.M.B. is a collection to look out for in the coming seasons.

Style Pointers to remember for SS2012:
Ikat, deep V-neck, jumpsuits, single shoulder necklines, oversized bags, platforms, bright colors and bold prints.

Band of Outsiders
The Band of Outsiders Spring 2012 menswear collection made its debut this summer, at a presentation at Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy. Consequently, Scott Sternberg's womenswear collections, Boy and Girl, flew solo at his show this evening. (Via style.com)
One of the looks I admired at the show was schoolgirl chic—box-pleated skirts, neat blouses, peter pan collars and crisp cut coats. The other looks/ elements in design that stood out for me were the urban hippie and the modern day, feminine girl. Pieces like the quilted jacket in a micro floral print, the patent leather anorak, the black leather bandage skirt, the asymmetric tiered dresses and the zip detailing all worked well and impressed the audience. The inspiration for Boy came majorly from Peter Weir's hypnotic film Picnic at Hanging Rock. There was a lot of romance in the show.

Style Pointers to remember for SS2012:
Navy instead of black, box pleats, blouses, dip dye ( I loved the lace T-shirt and shorts set, in which the shorts had been dip-dyed in black at the hem. ), floral prints, tiered skirts and dresses, flow and softness in style.

Alexander Wang
The inspiration for the collection comes from motocross, NASCAR and everything to do with street or speed, the portrayal is that of a tough street girl who is hard core and sexy. That was Alexander Wang for us in his SS2012 show.
The highlight of the show for me were, the laser cut mesh bombers with bright polos inside, the cargos and the body-con laser cut leather mini dresses. The clever use of mesh around a garment (be it the pockets or the sleeves) created an impact on the eye that was visually very appealing. The sexy race car inspired knits and the sheer jerseys with tribal looking motifs (it was actually the stadium seating chart) were a stunner. In the end, there are a lot of pieces, I would like in my wardrobe for summer, and so would a lot of other girls!!! Very wearable, very sexy, very chic.

Style Pointers to remember for SS2012:
Athletic Chic, peplums and pockets, lot of hoodies, body-cons and bombers, bright layers inside sheers, pointy and strappy pumps (so nineties, so very cool) and sexy street chic.

If I were to point out a combined look that was reflected out of these three collections, it would be:
COLORS: navy, whites, black
TREATEMENTS: ikat, dip dye, laser cut, distress
SILHOUETTE: body-con, slouchy jumpsuits and bombers, micro florals, tiers and pleats, wide leg pants
STYLE: athletic chic, hippie street girl
FOOTWEAR: platforms and pumps, pointy toes, bright colors, high heels

BAGS: oversized, bright, bold patterns
