pick of the day

I am totally in love with Juicy Couture jewelry and accessories, not to mention, the love is deep rooted specially for the necklaces. here's a few ideas on how to dress up your funky side. Keep the colors simple, don't over do with a lot of patterns. Try to maintain the focus on the one piece ( eg; jewelry, or handbag or shoes, maybe the blouse) and keep the rest only to support and enhance the whole look.

Have a lovely juicy day! *wink xo

Autumn Winter 2012-2013 (My favorite designers)

Marc by Marc Jacobs and Derek Lam

There were vintage inspirations all over the fall runways and if spring had been a futuristic, neon colored bright package, the Autumn comes in shades of dark maroon, greys and browns. There are peplums everywhere, and polka dotted dress is no longer a passé, all lurex clad and shimmering with glamour ( Marc Jacobs). Also seen in a classic come back, are knife pleats, in skirts, dresses and tunics.

Rocker chic and Goth influences seem to rule the look book for fall, with pieces such as, the pleated trouser, shift dress, high waist skirt all in shades of shimmer and leather. Classic cuts make a twist and even velvet and eyelet embroidery gets a fresh look.
Also loving the total comfort over heels scenario, so many shows had fab flat shoes and boots. Even though, if just to fit the theme, these flats soles will get picked up by street fashion soon enough.

P.S. also check out the accessories from Alexander Wang in the end of the post.

Autumn Winter 2012-2013 (Christopher Kane)

MY FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE SHOW:

Photos via Style.com

My 'love affair with Christopher Kane' is old enough but when he does these beautiful pin-striped pieces in black/ grey, my 'love affair with black' and Kane finds it absolutely hard to resist myself from drooling over them. Coming winter, I know I am going to spend hours, days and maybe even weeks, trying to find the perfect way, the perfect thrifted garment to match and re-create these looks within my budget!
Also, I particularly love the purple/ black rose print dress with the leopard print trench, might get a little over the top for me on a day to day basis, but it sure does speak and relate to some part of my personality. I guess, I have an identity within me that is a hardcore Kane fan and devotee. Loving the red print on dresses as well as the pants, also the footwear.
All this collection, coming from Kane's mind where he got inspired by Al-Pacino's movie Cruising, where he played the part of a gay-serial killer to perfection. The Kane woman for fall, is a scandalous, bold and mysterious girl who goes from nightclubs to bars to places, all the while being a hardcore tough nut to crack, an odd bird. The 80's are blooming in full flair with Kane's imagination, from menswear inspired pin striped pieces to the bold floral prints, the cashmere knits and the leopard prints.
P.S. Note the color scheme, purple, deep-blood red, black, grey, rich blue- a very similar color palette has been seen across the runways. This fall is going to be very Goth, very dark, to carry it off, you need your imagination to be with an inclination towards the dark side/ or an evil mindset. I can't wait for these winters to come, to show off my Goth and Vampirish side. much love. xx

Autumn Winter 2012-2013 (Trend Alert)

What to expect this fall:
The number one big thing for the season is going to be ruffles, on the jacket pockets, the front of trenches and shirts, sleeves, side seams and every other possible place that a ruffle can be placed. It can be light, flowing chiffon or tough twill ruffles, it can also be on accessories, like collars, cuffs and even shoes. Go big! Go Ruffled!!

Secondly, a lot of mix and match of fabrics, a lot of leather used on sleeves, collars or panels, a lot of lightweight fabrics mixed with heavy twills and jacquards.

The garments are structured as well as flowing but drapes are seen mostly on the red carpet look, whereas the ready to wear genre is structured pieces with different techniques involved to give it a twist.

The colors are rich and bright to delight you on a gloomy winter morning, but if you look at for example, Burberry- The designer says, winter wardrobe should look like winter clothes, and so a lot of dark browns, blacks and greys with heavy wool and fur, but it does carry it's own appeal and fan following, as do the bright twisted modern pieces from designers like Gurung and Thakoon.

A lot will be seen of Black, purple, neon red, shocking blues and a lot of rich pinks and navy. Also a lot of camel and grey tones in jackets, trenches and knits but most times combined with a bright shade. Another thing that will probably be seen a lot this fall is a sort of Goth look inspired by pieces from designers such as Gurung and Kane, in exploring the dark side.

A lot of different elements like the basket weave of the Gurung collection, that seemed inspired by the confession box, could find their way onto the streets, as is or in forms such as fishnet stockings and crochet lace pieces. A lot to look out for and a lot of fun elements to adorn this coming fall. much love.xx

Autumn Winter 2012-2013 (My favorite designers)

Here's a load down on what went across the runways from two of my all time favorite designers: Prabal Gurung and Thakoon.

PRABAL GURUNG F/W 2012/13

Prabal Gurung’s fall collection explored the duel forces we all struggle with, in our life. He did express his own spiritual quest in life between the dark and the light and the universal journey we all take between dark to light was the thought behind this fall wardrobe. The collection started all black; with a very gothic, very dark angelic feel to it, for me the main attraction were the accessories, as much as his classic cut silhouettes. From black, the dresses took a journey to blue, gold and finally whites and ivory pieces depicting the light or the good side.

I loved the Felton double steer cuffs, brooches and belts in brass, the paneled leather gloves and the pointed-toe pumps throughout the collection. Most pieces were with the eye catching Gurung trademark, like the leather choker collar or the belts in dresses with geometric cut panels and contrast fabrics.

The highlight were also the prints done last season, as Gurung explored the concept and came up with exquisite designs featuring blue roses and cow skulls in the very Gurung fashion. On one side, the collection is very wearable, with separate pieces like the trousers, jackets, skirts. On the other hand, Gurung satisfied his red carpet clientele with beautiful flowing dresses and intricate embellishments and embroidery. My personal favorites were the tulle evening gown and the tuxedo jacket with the blue rose print.

If, I look at the whole collection, there are pieces that felt a bit overdone, or too much maybe with accessories, ruffles or fabric choices, but when you take seperates and mix-n-match them in your wardrobe, you can create some fabulous ever so lovely pieces for fall. All in all, a very satisfying Gurung experience for me. Much luv.

THAKOON F/W 2012/13

Thakoon got the inspiration for his fall collection from Ed and Nancy Kienholz's installation re-creating Amsterdam's red-light district, the neon light beam featuring in most of his pieces and the color palette were both inspired by it. I loved the way he tweaked his garments, the ruffles and basket weave on the jackets, the trenches worn as dresses, the colors, the kinky factor to his garments, all speak of his style statement. The Audrey Hepburn factor was so visible in many pieces, yet he took them all and created his personal signature, loved the paper bag waist skirt oh and the mix of leather and faux leather in his garments.

Look out for the extreme color palette, the shocking bright raspberry reds, the pinks, greys and blacks with a hint of electric blue. Loved the neon beam print here and there, specially on the dress with the basket weave in front. Also note the crisscross strap pumps with crocodile stamped leather, loved them in all the shades, specially red. The ruffles again stand tall this fall with Thakoon doing some fabulous work on his jackets, loved the detailing on all the jackets and trenches. Also note the V-day influence with the silk dress with hearts all over. Oh! and I desperately want the pullover with leather sleeves, seen on runway with the paperbag skirt. love it!

The pumps that took my heart away-
