Let's pick a favourite item of clothing...

for example...let's say we take this 'Sequin gold crop cardigan' from Nicole Miller. VERY this season, very chic and a nice metallic color for a neutral.
Now, let's create a look with this item...

This is a simple and casual day look that can be worn on a weekday to college, a weekend movie with friends or just simply to the mall in your neighbourhood. Now, we are in love with this sequined cardigan, right? So when we decide to go for an evening out with friends what do we do....?

All we did is...get rid of the denims and the cotton top....and get into a silk cami or a silk/ chiffon flowy more evening appropriate top and get a nice woven shorts/ can also do with woven capris/ pants. And slash in some junk jewelry of your choice, a sleaker handbag and...VOILA!!
