sheshweshwe

No comments:
South Africa is famous for its locally made fabric, sheshweshwe or also known as shweshwe. Its a colorful pattern usually made up of dots going around in circles or other geometric shapes, most common being circles and diamonds. The most common colors are shades of brown. blue and red. Further dyed, it can give extraordinary color combinations.
These days shweshwe fabric is being used by many local designers for making contemporary clothing and accessories. Most commonly seen in tunics and handbags, also a lot of belts and ties. Living here in SA for the past 2 yrs, I have felt this fabric is a very promising area of the SA culture, one that hasnt yet quite been explored to its full potential. It can very easily turn into a huge fashion trend if taken seriously...

Indian Rainbow

No comments:
This amazing retail store, SHOPPERS STOP, back home in India, does these beautiful eye catching tunics in wonderfully bright colors. They use a mix of fabrics like silk, silk jacquard, satins along with light weight cottons and hand made embroidery and embellishments. The result is fabulous and bright, much like an Indian version of the rainbow, if I may say....

It just adds so much brightness, not just to your ensemble but also to your mood...

Such a beautiful way to carry a little slice of India with you, on your way back.

ahh the RED soled SHOE!!

No comments:

Christian Louboutin (born January 7, 1964) is a footwear designer who launched his line of highend womens shoes in France in 1991. Since 1992, his designs have incorporated the shiny, red-lacquered soles that have become his signature.
"in 1992, I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy, so I applied red nail polish to sole of the shoe. This was such a success, that it became a permanent fixture."
Louboutin received inspiration for his lethal looking stilettoes from an incident that occured early in his life. he has visited a museum and noticed there was a sign stating women in high/ sharp stilettoes forbidden from entry, for the fear that they may cause damage to the museum property. This image stayed in his mind, and he later used it. " I wanted to defy that" Louboutin says, "I wanted to make something comfortable and powerful for women" And you so did..!!!

mix n match with bright accessories to turn them up a notch!!!
Another very good example of how we can play around with any color dull or bright, and make it into a statement outfit. Not everything needs to be bright...just like not everything needs to be dull..... accessories and makeup play a very important part in dressing you up or down!!!

Afro Chic

South Africa has immense inspiration drooping from all corners....it has the power to challenge your fashion sense and create an amazing color sensation.....the south african fashion is not just bold and beautiful...but bold and beautiful colors, textures, drapes....and the "not scared to try" attitude.
This country is an amazing example...of how runway looks get transformed into street style without loosing the punk!!!
