New finds we are gushing over from UO

No comments:
This one's a little off fashion, we are taking our latest favorites from Urban Outfitter home collection. Yes, since we moved into our house last fall, it has kind of been our decor project to go nuts with and we are slowly curating the best little quirky finds from all over the place..

Some of our favorite pieces so far have come from (aside from all the other curated stuff we can collected down the years) Urban Barn, Pier one, Bed Bath & Beyond. But this isn't the post where I share my collection, simply putting a few 'yet-on-my-list' pieces that we are yet to get our hands on..

Now the first one is special, it's so us and our style that we can't wait to get our hands on it, but the trouble is that half of it doesn't deliver to Canada...we are still trying to work around it.. But these Urban Outfitters Arrow Finials in green are to die for...

The trouble is that the curtain rod that goes with it only ships to US. Hoping someone I know soon makes a trip other side of the border so I can get these ordered. In the meantime I will sit and prey these don;t go out of stock.. (Link for shop in Image)

The second item I have to have from UO is this beautiful medallion tapestry in blue, obviously I am going to use it as a bedspread/ bedcover and the size is just perfect for our king bed. It is totally boho, goes well with our charcoal grey and mint green bedroom and reflects a sort of cool vibe that is going to gell nicely with our red dresser and antique finished side drawers.

The last piece we are cooing over is this crescent shaped gold hanging planter. I cannot wait to hang it above my bedside stool and have a beautiful fern or ivy trailing down besides me as I fall asleep..

Needless to say I am absolutely in love with the whole magical thinking collection by Urban Outfitters
Cannot wait to get a lot more from this collection to compliment our kitsch/ boho home decor...

New Year Resolutions & my first challenge

No comments:
...welcome back to the blog!

Hey everyone, I hope your Holidays were spent safe and warm with family friends and loved ones. Now that the new year is upon us, once again making new year's resolutions is at top priority in everyone's to-do list.

Not that I haven't ever fallen into the trap of excitement with my long list of resolutions only to drop them off conveniently as I go through the daily struggles of life, more so often during the first month itself, but still here's a little research (read: Google'd info)-

Top ten New Year's Resolutions according to Google came to-

1 Lose Weight
2 Getting Organized
3 Spend Less, Save More
4 Enjoy Life to the Fullest
5 Staying Fit and Healthy
6 Learn Something Exciting
7 Quit Smoking
8 Help Others in Their Dreams
9 Fall in Love
10 Spend More Time with Family

And the most commonly broken New Year's Resolution?

You guessed it! - "Lose Weight & Stay Healthy" (again Google said so, or the various articles found online)

But I am pretty sure the most common and mostly broken resolution does revolve around diets/ fitness & gym etc...

Talk about body shaming/ body insecurity, we put ourselves through so much tension and stress about our bodies that most of the weight gain/ unhealthy habits crop up from this very cause.

So, this year I decided to make no such resolutions instead take each month at a time and have therefore planned to divide it further into each week and tackle it one at a time.

To begin with, I am not following any DIETS!! there you go...

Instead I opted to take the 4 week challenge that was posted by someone on facebook. Its super simple, in lay man's terms its NO JUNK FOOD challenge. So you are not on a diet, you just have to avoid any/ all junk food like ice creams, soda, white bread, fast food, cookies, chips, etc.

Today was the first day and I have to admit, I didn't realize my cravings for cookies with my morning coffee were so strong that I would be grumpy the whole day, but I did it, the day's over, I actually feel fantastic because I stuck to it and as an added bonus also put in an hour and half of workout at the gym. That makes the start of the week a success. And the bonus in all this is that I am actually not on a diet, just a challenge (somehow makes it easier) knowing that I am only suppose to ban bad foods from my ingredient list and no limitations to all the healthy home cooked meals I can have.

Hoping to take it one week at a time and aiming at staying on point each day, let's see how it goes. I will keep posting a weekly status on my progress but in the mean time, feel free to share your thoughts, resolutions or comments if you are doing something different this New Year's too..

I am planning to pick a new challenge each month this year to make it easier to stick to all the positives in life. Message me or google (as I always find helpful) this 4 week No junk food challenge if you want to try it too?

You will miss soda and chips and maybe ice cream/ cookies for the initial few days but hopefully the rewards will substantially outweigh the cravings :)

We did this shoot around High Park and surrounding Lakeshore in downtown Toronto. All the pieces are from House of Poplyn F/W 2015 couture collection. The collection was inspired by microscopic images of microorganisms and comprises of 3D sculpted form and heavy embellishments and beading. Looks 1, 3 and 4 seen here on model Erin Elliott project a softer almost dreamy side of the collection while looks 2 and 5 seen here on Model Sarah Ve portray a bold, sensual mood.
We shot the story in natural surroundings to bring the pieces to life. Rich greens against the crisp whites as well as the shoreline against bright prints create a striking contrast bringing the viewer’s eyes to the garments and the model.
This set plays around with the soft as well as bold sides of nature. The purity and softness of whites and blues compliments the bold and aggressive greens and reds just as found in nature. Each look had subtle make-up and hair focusing on the embellishments of the garments.
Look 1, 2 & 3 were shot among trees and the greenery, the photographer, Mark played with natural lighting and light and shadow to capture a perfect shot every time.
Looks 4 & 5 shot by the shoreline, close to sunset have a natural glow and brightness to them from the setting sun, in turn enhancing and complimenting the bright greens and red in the outfits.
